She reported on sports for several of the largest outlets in the United States. She worked for The Washington Post nearly a decade and covered Grand Slam Tennis and Grand Slam Football, as playing basketball in multiple Olympics. Nichols was hired by ESPN in 2004 and spent nearly nine years with the company, winning two Emmy Awards. She also featured on the most watched shows on ESPN including SportsCenter as well as NFL Countdown. She was also part of the network's Monday Night Football broadcasts as a sideline reporter. After that, she joined CNN as well as Turner Sports. Unguarded: Rachel Nichols hosted her own show on CNN International. This show attracted over one billion viewers across the entire globe. At the time, Nichols was a reporter for TNT's NBA broadcasts, including the playoffs, regular season, and All-Star broadcast teams. In addition to covering for TBS as well, she was also a reporter for baseball and golf broadcasts and Final Four on CBS. It was only the second time in its 42-year history that a woman was nominated out of more than 200 nominations.
